Imazzalen, established in 2005, is a passionate musical endeavor that blends energetic original percussion with lyrics addressing themes of humanity and peace. Utilizing instruments from diverse cultures, including the banjo, guembri, and djembe, Imazzalen creates a fusion that resonates with the music of traditional Sufi brotherhoods. The goal is to preserve the rich cultural heritage of southern Morocco.

Influenced by the musical vibes of the 70s, particularly the Taznzart style inspired by the iconic Izenzaren group, our ensemble draws from these authentic sounds to craft a distinctive identity. We blend Taznzart with the mesmerizing tones of Gnaoua music and the rhythmic richness of Ahwach, infusing sub-Saharan blues with the recent incorporation of Tidinit sounds. The core mission of Imazzalen is to intricately weave a diverse tapestry of African music, embracing the cultural mosaic of North Africa (Amazigh/Gnaoua), the Southern Sahara (Hasani music and rhythms), and the broader African continent (djembé and traditional skin percussion).

The  band aspires for universality, seeking to introduce its music on international platforms and events. Notable appearances include Tedex in Tiznit in 2012, the Forum of Worldwide Music Festivals in 2012, and the recognition of the group's contributions in the digital library of a UNESCO-supported program dedicated to the preservation of Morocco's cultural heritage.

Performances : at the Fez Festival of Amazigh music in 2010, Timitar Festival in Agadir in 2011, an evening at Boulteq Casablanca in 2012, and Tedex Tiznit in 2013. The group has also embarked on international tours, including a series of concerts in Denmark in 2016 and a tour in France, Belgium, and Sweden in November 2016. Noteworthy venues include the Global Festival Copenhagen, Klaver Fabrikken, humanitarian events, and private Moroccan evenings.

The group's discography is a rich tapestry of artistic exploration. The journey began with the release of our debut album "Tamzla" in 2009. Subsequent releases include the 2014 single "Afra," a fusion of French Rap with the Taznzart style addressing the theme of drought. In 2021, we collaborated with the French group Jackfruit on the single "Amazigh 303." Building on our creative collaborations, 2022 witnessed the release of the single "Tamagit dub" and the EP "Souss Systeme" in partnership with the Jackfruit brothers and Jamal Rass Derb.

Currently, the group is immersed in the creation of a much-anticipated album titled "IGOUDAR." This project, the culmination of several years of dedicated work, delves into themes such as education and collective memories, promising to be a testament to our artistic evolution and commitment to cultural expression.

IMAZZALEN's meaning in the Amazigh language <intermediates/ mediator > of the human causes, however in the Amazigh culture of Souss "Amazzal" singular of Imazzalen is the person who organise and control the partition of water to irrigate the fields of agriculture sothe "Amazzal" have a valuable organizational role.

IMAZZALEN works  in music Folk-blues Music and rythmes and traditional forms of music , by researches and studying this figures of resemblance and meeting some Masters and musicians. the Banjo (5 or 6 strings) is an instrument used with virtuosity in Morocco and IMAZZALEN gives a large place, next The Guembri plucked string instrument of the Gnawa, the traditional guitar the Djeli n’Gouni (Instrument Malian s strings) and percussion: Tbal and tam-tam, and bendir djambe (large tambourine skin) Congas, qraqeb (long metal “castanets”) ... lastly Imazzalen mixed 3 music cultures ( Amazigh,African,Gnaoua) that's what gives to the music of band a big energy, especially traditional Moroccan rhythms, one of the experiences that Imazzalen considerate as source of inspiration is Tinariwen, the spontaneity of melodies and texts that deliver a very deep feeling, played by exotic percussions and Desert blues melodies.
